about

About the 20-something: Where to start…. I’m a recent grad of Boston University’s College of Communication, where I focused on understanding and embracing the craziness that is public relations.  In short, one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Like, ever.  I spent the Spring ’11 semester in the fab-u-lous city of Paris and wish almost every day that I could click my heels three times and go back.  I adore social media, speak in “abrevs” and think in #hashtags. My mind is like my iTunes: eclectic and on shuffle.  Some may find this steady swirling of ideas inhibitive; I find it empowering.

I am a…public relations specialist, cupcake baker, lifelong tap dancer, Gamma Phi girl, wannabe interior decorator, musical theatre lover, proud leopard print wearer, nail polish collector, post-it enthusiast, coffee addict (Dunkins, obvi), & devoted Bostonian.

Balance is my mantra.  A certain special woman once told me that balance is everything (and I am now old enough to admit that she was right – thanks mom!).

Bette Midler may have put it best:

“I always try to balance the light with the heavy –

a few tears of human spirit

in with the sequins & the fringes.”

Behind the blog: As some of you may know, this blog has gone through a few re-vamps over the years.  We had “Controlled Chaos,” then “Do. Get. Go.,” and now the latest and greatest.  The root of the problem here is I simply have too many interests.  I know, tragic.  But managing interests is the key to balance, right? Of course right.

But over the last couple years, between falling hopelessly in love with Paris, turning 21+1 (#denial), graduating, becoming a veritable career woman (#moredenial), and cruising into the “official” 20-something phase of my life, the importance of balance has become ever-more evident.

And so, we have, “A Balancing Act.”  My feeble attempt at maintaining a work/life, friends/family, social/hermit balance (and writing about it).   Topics will vary, opinions will change, balance will be lost and restored.  Enjoy.
