This oil painting was fun to create and it reminded me of my buoy paintings, with their colorful shapes and stripes all tumbled together. When I came upon this dock in Maine one summer, I liked how these boats looked all stacked up upon each other. It was hard to tell where they began and ended and the scale changed dramatically in a small space. I chose a narrow, vertical canvas for this scene because I think it will fit nicely into interesting spaces in a beach home.
