16 Dinghies

This painting was fun to create, and it reminded me of the buoy paintings I do, with many bright colors all tumbled together. When I came upon this dock of dinghies on the Maine coast, I liked how they seemed to stack up upon one another and it was hard to tell where one ended and the other began. This is probably why I enjoy formalism in art - the way that color, line, value and shape juxtapose to create dynamic compositions.
